Students admitted to U.S. Colleges come here able to read and understand English. However, their pronunciation of English words and their conversational skills are often lacking. Thus, these lessons were developed so that international students can read aloud to a class and to a teacher who corrects mispronunciations, allowing them to polish their pronunciation and increase their confidence. This increased confidence will allow them to speak up in class and to engage in social conversations with American classmates.
