In 1939, Mary Krotoczynski left Berlin on the Kindertransport while her parents remained to perish in the Holocaust. In this memoir, her son chronicles her courageous struggles as a refugee, first in England and postwar Germany, and then in America.
Mary fought to build a new life after losing her family and homeland as she bravely coped with bipolar disorder and the inequities related to social status and gender.
Her own words and the memories of those who loved her are part of the story. They add to our understanding of the diverse and complex problems faced by Holocaust survivors and their descendants.
